My engine sounds like a diesel or tractor??

96 super s engine starting to sound like a diesel engine at idle and low RPM particularly in 1st and 2nd. Its just a rattly chuggy sound. Doesn't seem to effect performance much it just sounds bad. any ideas?

Could be cam chain/tensioners on they\'re way out, how many Ks and any idea what sort of maintenance the car has received ?

I just change the oil myself each year and it was an engine swap when I bought it. It run fine for last 5 years. You might be right I could get that looked at.
