Setting the distributor cap / ignition timing

Sun 09 Aug 2015 10:31:18 AM
Ok guys I'm new to the k11 I've just been doing it up and am having trouble as I'm unsure with it as it runs but doesn't make power I ran my timing light over it @15 degrees and the dots are no where near where the should be i then adjusted the light until the dots where hitting where they where ment to be and it was like 64 degrees now not sure if it's the same as how I do my s13 Silvia but I'm running the pick up lead off #1 what have I done wrong or am I missing ????
Idel is perfectly fine just feels like it's retarted in the timing but just to ensure I haven't missed anything am I doing it right guessing the cam may be a tooth out

best way to do this accurately is use the Nissan consult. it's around $40 on ebay.

correct ^ the k11 uses timing as a form of idle control under certain conditions, so you have to lock the ignition in "base timing mode" first
i used to run the strobe and ecu talk software both together instead, and then twist the dizzy till both the strobe and software dial were reading the same value
