Difficulties removing manual gear shifter!

Hi everyone I've just purchased a short shifter and I am trying to put in my self but can't get the old one out. I've taken everything off exposing the gear stick but can't remove the 2 bolt/screw things on the bottom of the metal plate thing on the top, someone please help me!!!

Dont they unbolt from the bottom? at the shifter linkage.
