Air conditioner pipe modification

A simple google of the above hasn't helped answer the question on my mind at all.

I'd like to keep the air conditioner setup if possible with my project car. Who has toyed with this idea and succeeded?

Can the piping and placement of the air-con parts be modified from there original fit?

Pretty sure an aircon specialist who do pipe bending would be able to do this for you.
