Sad to annnounce that we are soon to be a one Micra family.
Our Red turbo Micra has been traded at a Nissan dealership towards a 2010 Nissan X-Trail. Still keeping my original Green car which I've owned since new and is still going strong at 418,000k's |

Wow, 418,000k's and owned since new, thats a great effort Mychael, I have had my Micra since 97 when it was only a few months old, just wondering how many other original or long term Micra owners there are left out there??

I wonder as well, probably not a lot I would think.
I'm a bit older then your average Micra member who more often then not got into Micras as their first car as opposed to first new car. The Micra we traded whilst same age has less K's but has not mechanically travelled as well, though cosmetically just as good. The one traded was my Red Turbo Micra, the one called "Family Hack" by it's previous owner. |

I too am probably a little older than your average Micra owner but I still get a buzz everytime I take mine for a drive, it still feels so zippy and handles like a go-kart, much more fun than a lot of the offerings out there, even today, not to mention as you would probably remember they weren't cheap either! around 20 grand for an SLX which was big money for a little car in the mid 1990's, especially compared with the $13,990 Hyundai Excel's and Ford Festiva's that were so popular at the time.
If memory serves I think "Family Hack" used to be owned by Dave from Tassie (or Perth). I think I may have met him at the 2005 "10 year anniversary meet" in Canberra (which also feels like a lifetime ago!) I hope "Family Hack" finds a good home. |

Correct, I think I got mine for $18K with power steering but no air, it's a series one. The Hyundai's and Festivas (of that era) were not in the same quality as they are now. Yep, Dave Leyton from Tassie. I made friends with Dave back when he lived in Tassie but bought "Hack" from him when he was in Perth. He also owned "White Knight" the Supercharged Micra. Sadly I doubt my car will find a good home, I tried unsuccessfully a couple of times to sell it on these forums and though the car yard gave me peanuts for it the convienience of trade instead of not trying to sell privately or stripping made it worth it. |

Sad to hear, Mychael. I remember you giving a few of the members a ride in ol' Family Hack when we did a cruise many years ago.. made me remember why I wanted to turbo my K11 in the first place. All you can do is put it out of your mind and move on I suppose. My folks traded in a GU Patrol 5 years ago and I ended up spotting it on the road last year. Only thing I can say is I don't think it had been cared for as meticulously as my folks did, but then again, it's a Patrol, why should it be treated with kid gloves?
Glad to see you're still around and posting :) ---dens |
