Brand new clutch cable is stuffed!!

Well, sort of anyway. It performs fine, but the outer sheathing is cracked over the entire length of the cable.
I bought the cable brand new ($120) from Nepean Motor Group (Nissan/VW/mitsubishi/suzuki etc dealer/service center, for those who don't know) about 3 months ago.
Now the cable is cracked all over and the spiral-wound core is exposed.

Has anybody else had issues with these?
Just concerned about dust etc getting in there and causing the cable to stick over time.

Might just tape it up for now. I can probably get it replaced on warranty, but for that, they will need my car because they don't just swap parts apparently.
Even though i installed it myself, for warranty claims the mechanics have to change it.
And for THAT, i have to book it in and leave my car there. screw that. nobody touches my sh*tbox but me lol

Oh well maybe next time... I'll have my camera working overtime no doubt about that... Lol
