Wire new head unit but headlight fuse keeps blowing |

Hi all,
I'm new to the forum and was after some advice on wiring for a new CD player. I don't own a Micra, but have fitted the CD player into my girlfriend's Mum's K11 Micra. As you all probably know, I needed to buy an Autoleads ISO converter lead to go between the back of the new CD player and the standard Nissan radio connector blocks. It wasn't quite that simple as I had to chop and re-wire a couple of the wires on the converter lead... basically I cut the illumination wire and replaced it with the ground wire so that it matched with the standard Nissan connector block. Anyway, once the re-wiring was done I pluged it all in and the CD player works fine. However, the Mother has reported that the fuse for the headlights/sidelights/taillights keeps blowing. I have a feeling it might have something to do with illumination wire. Am I right in thinking this is connected to the headlight circuit so that it dims the head unit when the lights are turned on? Refering to the picture I have attached, working from left to right, these are the connections I have established: Blue/black = Ignition Yellow = Ground Red = Battery Then the next 8 wires along I have assumed are the speaker wires. Then there is the White/black wire at the far right. This is not connected to anything going into the CD player.... is this the illumination wire for the standard radio? If so I might try and connect it to the illumination wire I cut on the converter lead. Any help much appreciated! |

The old wirelesses were backlit when the headlights/parkers were turned on. (like te hazards and rear demister switches do)
Its either a connection with that illumintion wire earthing out. Or as frank said you just need to run a new earth. Any part of the metal frame that the cd player connects onto should work. |

frank2 WROTE: "you just have to run a separate earth :)" How sure are you on this? I'm using the same earth as the original stereo did...? Greo WROTE: "The old wirelesses were backlit when the headlights/parkers were turned on. (like te hazards and rear demister switches do) Its either a connection with that illumintion wire earthing out. " Thanks, but not quite sure I understand what your saying here. The illumination wire from the new stereo I left un-connected I taped up with insulation tape. So can anyone confirm what the black/white wire is to the far right shown in the pic above? Cheers |
