Power Steering Belt tension |

Dear Micra People
I have recently bought a 1998 Nissan Micra 1.3 (fitted with power steering). I am specifically looking for information about adjusting the power steering drivebelt (not mentioned in the Haynes manual and very difficult access to see on the car). I believe I can locate the pivot bolt and an adjusting bolt, but if it's a similar setup to the alternator is there a 'clamping' bolt to loosen before I can pivot the pump? I don't want to undo the wrong thing. Any help (or pictures) would be greatly appreciated. Alan Simmonds Sutton Coldfield, England |

hmm, I don't have powersteering but its on the same belt as the water pump, right? so, adjustment is via the waterpump idler pulley if it has one. Not much room thou. I'll check on my spare engine in the morning and double check this, unless someone beats me to it.

Hmmmm interesting. Thanks for the replies. The bottom of the two looks closest (multigroove pulley, long adjustment bolt), I thought my pulley was attached to the power steering pump as well. (This is my first Micra so I may not know what I'm talking about.) There isn't an idler pulley. I'll see if I can get some photos of my car myself.
