painting brake calipers...

yeah i did this when i did my brake upgrade and i instantly milked and extra 23kw at the wheels :p

Considering how easy it is to unbolt the caliper from the hub so it's free, I don't see why you'd do it like that..

What you could do to make life even easier is take the caliper off, remove rotor then bolt the caliper back up so the rotor doesn't get in the way, and you could just turn the wheel as well so it makes it easier to get to the back.

Either way the guides are always an entertaining watch :)

thanks guys, if i were painting my own calipers they'd be totally off the car and left over a number of days to get a perfect finish.. chances are the people that the video is the most useful too are the ones that are probably better off NOT taking their brakes apart - if you get what i'm saying

i'm in the middle of organising a wideband episode thats a bit more technical/interesting as the calipers thing is pretty basic really

hahahah... yeah some more technical vids would be sweet... these ones help tho.. like the blackening one... i got a few bits that need to be 'BLACK' haha.

also got any ideas for removing the bump stip on the side of the car... mines off but the double sided tape still remains a greuling task to get off... just thought from your experience cleaning and what not might have a solution.... atm im just scraping it off with a plastic scraper... nothing else works and it takes FOREVER

tris, thats pretty much the only way mate... until mines painted i've given up on getting the double sided stuff off there

plastic scraper, heat gun is probly the way

you can buy a thing called a "caramel wheel" from most good auto refinishers, it goes in the end of the drill, all you do is run it up and down the double sided tape and it rips it straight off without harming the paint. there pretty cheap from memory, and you'll have the job done in about 2 minutes. also works on removing stickers etc.

yeh, don't hold it on one spot for too long! test it out somewhere inconspicous.. specially on the paper thin micra paint :( i've done it on the red car before.. came of easy enough.
