I'm convinced more fun can be had offroad |

A day in the Mt Mee area in the sunshine coast hinterland with a nissan Patrol.
= fun. Unfortunately pictures don't show steep ascents very well. These were short but quite steep. Didn't get a pic of going up A Break trail unfortunately which is a hill that is quite long, steep and loose. Lots of fun. I stalled it here :P Dust from up infront of the car is not wheelspin but the viscous thermo fan with engine revs. Got heaps more wheel lift on an earlier attempt but unfortunately it also happened to be a pretty poor line and I had to reverse back and go at a different angle so I wouldn't end up kissing some trees further up the track. The required park on a rock picture. I am an advocate of tread lightly, but I saw no harm in this considering its location. So no hippies yelling at me! A day out is not complete with mud. Left alot of mud at carlovers later that night. haha Some videos http://s202.photobucket.com/albums/aa35/yombert/?action=view¤t=95332a22.flv http://s202.photobucket.com/albums/aa35/yombert/?action=view¤t=83009dce.flv (you have to copy these links sorry! :( MY html skills are shoddy haha |

Hi Yom,
That's awesome. It certainly looks like you had a fun time !. You are proving the Patrol is no 'soft roader' and performs well offroad. |

Yeah off-road is fun. That's why I keep the Lada. It sure aint for it's performance or sexy looks. lol.
I rescued a guy who was driving in a short wheel base patrol. He had the typical "I'm driving a big /real fourby so I'll be ok" attitude. Well moral of the story was he wasn't (okay that is) and my little LADA pulled him out of the hole he was in. hehehe. Mychael |

Haha yeh the stocko pootroll rides pretty low! Scraped its belly on a few things.. I was suprised the rear bumper and bullbar came away unscathed. On the GUIV/V the rear bar is usually the first thing to get owned and then that shocking alloy bullbar which is on our model (we're about to get it replaced with the steel bullbar thanks to someone running into it and bending it).
Along with what mipcar was saying, I feel alot of it is about knowing the vehicle and its limits. With that knowledge I've found you can usually get a fair distance into the anywhere (providing you read the track properly). Having a capable vehicle is no good if you don't know what you're doing in the terrain and if you don't know how to use what you've got... Cheers |

But it sure is fun. Still pics don't do the tracks justice. You cannot get a proper perspective of how steep they are.

Oh its bloody fantastic.
Only seeing the tops of trees and the sky as you drive up a track and over the crest of a hill is just awesome.. Along with flexing it right out and teetering on only 3 and sometimes only 2 wheels... It can be a real rush and you're not even doing 2km/hr! Best part of my day (apart from the scenery of that beautiful area) was getting it absolutely filthy, driving pretty much anywhere I desired on the day and still being able to merge out onto the highway and cruise comfortably at 110km/hr with the cruise on and the tunes up. Hehe. You can drive fast but I could drive anywhere. Cheers |

Another thing I've noticed is alot of other 4x4'ers you run into out on the tracks are friendly people. Some might look rough but they're always willing to give a helping hand, will smile/wave back at you and god forbid you start talking to them.. I always end up having a good old yarn about something!
Can't say the same for the majority of road users! |

Yes, generally true. Although in the area I play in there are lots of weekend cowboys, young blokes with v8 engined totally clapped HILUX's and stuff. Not to mention the trailbike riders. Nearly wore one as a bonnett mascot more then once.
