ECU / Rom tuning |

I'm tempted to fiddle with this... but the costs arent as cheap as I initially thought..
daughter board from GRID for example is about $240 http://www.grid.co.jp/en/prod/prod186.htm then add cost of rom itself, the tune, etc, etc... hrmmmm |

K11 rom daughter board..
the GRID site says there are two different Micra ECU's (one with Intel chipset and one with Mitsubishi chipset) therefore there are two different daughterboards avail Maybe I should put an "Intel Inside" sticker on my car... hah one ECU has a 40pin header on it, one has a 30pin header... hrmm I know crazy pete in the uk has mucked around with rom tuning, might hit him up for all his info/wares :) |

Is there any way to tell if the micra you are buying has an intel chipset?
I don't think I want another Nissan with a Mitsubishi part. The only mitsubishi part I know of on my pulsar (the starter motor) died at the worst possible time. Just strengthened my hate for mitsubishi... |

:) crazy pete, lmao
i wrote a guide on my site, but it needs more work, and is offline for the minute, i am currently working on an in detail guide, whith advice on how to start, use the various bits of software available if your not comfortable with altering the hex directly. i dont use grids boards as i dont like them, and they are very expensive, i can do any micra ecu, you just need to look inside to know what board you need, the old type have a 40pin slot, the new ones have a 30. i sent cisco a copy of my old guide for interest a while ago, when i have my new one finished, i'll put it on here, as well obviously as my site. |

knew you'd like the 'crazy' part hehehe..
cool man, I'll wait till you've done more of your guide.. good thing is I have access to most of the programming equipment (chip writers, etc, etc) as a mate of mine is a 'factory tuning' guru... might have heard of him Glen "Lumpy" Campbell.. he calls his stuff the "LumpyRom".. same sorta stuff as bikirom, but been doing it for like four times as long :) my K11 has an S-AFCII on it at the mo (doing sfa), dont wanna adjust it till i get the new zorst on and dyno the car.. should assist with sorting out the fuel ratio's once the headers/zorst is on, but keen to tinker with the rom too.. raise rev limit slightly, etc. |

Hi Guys,
my name is Zakie from Sri Lanka, since of late I'm having trouble downloading the ROM bin using Datascan 1.54 with the cable from PLMS. I actually got around the issue of downloading the full thing in one go, so I broke them up in parts and used Hex workshop to put them together and thats where the issue is as Im not getting the full 32K from 8000-FFFF, instead only upto FFFD which is 2 bytes short. I did the whole thing a few times but no go. If any body can shed some light I'd be really great full well I'm trying to tune my JDM Micra 1000cc using the board from Grid. If by chance if any of you have the file from a 72B06 ECU will be great and save me a lot of trouble trying to read it. I can always send my down loads if any of you wanna look. Regards, Zakie |

LOL. That is still a pretty in depth post though. Crazy stuff.
I would have just brought a bloody ecu and fitted that. Much easier and prob cheaper in the long run not to mention more tunability. |

this could be a neat option that plugs into the factory loom eh (if you,re handy with a soldering iron lol)
